I'm taking a PPC class through my Titanium membership at Viral Money List and I'm amazed at how many advertisers ignore basic SEO practices in their PPC ads.

The $4.95 I spent on a one month trial of Affiliate Elite is giving me the keywords my potential competition is using and the clicks per day, on specific ads, cost per click and more which is great. What blew my mind was how many ads DO NOT do proper targeting.

In organic SEO, you get the most traffic by targeting the long tail keyword phrases that have less than 100,000 competing websites. The reasoning for this is that it takes a lot of time and work to push a site past large numbers of competitors to reach the first two pages of results.

PPC lets you bid on keyword phrases and your ad will be positioned according to the amount you've bid unless you've paid for a certain position. If a group of advertisers bid within a specified range, I'm betting the one with the best SEO in the ad title and ad copy will get the highest position.

When you do a search on the major search engines, the words of the phrase you typed into the search box are automatically bolded by the search engines on the results pages for BOTH the organic listings AND the PPC ads.

Don't you think you'll get positioned higher in the results for either if your ad contains the exact phrase the searcher wants?

Many webmasters quit using Meta tags so the description the search engine pulls from the site content may or may not contain the right keyword phrase.

Some webmasters fail to put the keyword in the title and within the first 3-4 words of the title.

Many webmasters fail to have the keyword phrase as part of the URL

VERY few use all 3 elements to gain maximum benefit from their efforts.

The PPC class I'm taking hasn't covered this yet, but I'm willing to bet that PPC ads with the keyword in at least the title and ad copy will draw more clicks than a competitor that doesn't EVEN if the competitor is placed higher in the sponsored listings.

Our PPC class is on break now until July 12, 2008 and we've only has 2 out of the 6 lessons that will be in the course so I invite you to join Viral Money List as a Titanium member so you can join us in learning about PPC without any extra charge. There are other perks for Titanium members and one is a paid membership into SEO Tips for Beginners where I'll help you learn to understand search engine optimization. There are other levels with different perks but everyone should join for free and start learning and building a list from a great service.

I know many cannot justify the cost of the Titanium membership but for those of you that can the PPC training is awesome and I'll do my part to help you with SEO.
