Do You Have WordPress Optimized For Traffic?

Many bloggers put up WordPress blogs and they have no idea how to organize it for maximum benefit for both users and search engines and this is costing them business.

If you choose a theme for its look over its functionality, you might be slowing the load time and hindering efficient navigation around your site.

Are your images optimized with Alt tags, named as keywords, hosted on your server and reduced in size? If not, you are missing out on potential traffic.

If you use video, are you using both self-hosted and YouTube videos to get the best of both platforms. Do you have a good video sitemap for your self-hosted videos?

Are you using a link cloaking plugin that lets you cloak and track affiliate links to the links look like they are yours and the search engine doesn’t get pulled away from your site?

Is an internal linking structure in place that helps build backlinks and traffic to your money pages?

Do you have a visible sitemap so visitors and search engines are never more than a click away from any page on your site?

Are the links leading away from your site set to open in a new window so visitors can easily return to your blog?

Do you use words that give clues to the content on the destination page for every hyperlink you create? This anchor text gets indexed. Search the phrase click here on Google and you WILL be shocked by the variety of pages returned in the 1.5 BILLION pages indexed.

Optimizing your blog to put yourself ahead of your competition requires some thought, some positive action on a regular basis and some premium plugins.

Is Article Marketing Still Important?

Many are questioning the importance of article marketing since the last Google update. I think it’s still important BUT article directories aren’t as important as they once were.

For years, article directories like Ezine Articles and article distribution services like iSnare were the center pieces used by everyone that used article marketing for SEO and traffic generation but the Internet and marketplace has grown and evolved.

People want to be able to interact with the author’s creation AND they do not want to be overwhelmed with advertising when they try to read an article.

Article directories have historically used AdSense as their primary revenue source and most use every option they are allowed on each article and the result has been a poor user experience when the article is in the 250-300 word range.

I think article directories are going to be modifying their terms so you’ll need 400 word articles and longer to get approved and I also think the quality required will increase or they’ll lose their relevance.

The Competition

Blogger, WordPress.com, Tumblr and other Web 2.0 properties are giving the traditional article directory a body blow they cannot ignore.

These properties let you embed video and images in your posts which will increase the power of your message in ways a plain article cannot.

Google owns Blogger so creating a niche blog on a long tail keyword phrase then getting it indexed fast is easy. If you create 5-10articles at a time on that phrase, you can paste them into Blogger as scheduled posts.

You can put your keyword rich anchor text in the article body instead of in a resource box and this makes the link MUCH more powerful.

The blog is yours, the content is yours, the look and feel of the site is controlled by you and this control lets you give the visitor a good experience while you build backlinks and traffic from resources YOU control.

These properties need some promotion to be the best they can be for backlinks and traffic but so do articles in article directories now.

There is a lot of competition in almost every niche and the easiest way to get YOUR quality stuff noticed is to market it. Would you rather market content on blogs you control so you build authority for YOU or would you rather promote your content on an article directory so you can build the authority of their site?

Article directories are still useful tools. Instead of putting 2 links to your money site in your resource box, you can put one to your link blog and one to your money site or you can link to 2 different blogs. In my opinion, article directories are still useful even if they aren’t quite as powerful as they once were and article marketing using both article directories and blog networks will be around for quite awhile.

Back links | Part Of The Equation

must have wordpress plugins

Attracting highly targeted traffic from the search engines requires back links, quality content based on the right keywords and participation from your visitors.

Each of the 3 components is important to the search engines. As the algorithms are altered by the search engines, one element is given more weight than the others.

Too many marketers fall for the fads and alter their whole marketing plan just so they can concentrate on
trying to exploit the fact that their favorite search engine is currently
placing more weight on the number of back links their site has pointing to it.

These marketers may achieve page
1 listings and enjoy the traffic and sales that can come from that.
Unfortunately, many of these marketers don’t fully understand search engine marketing or the changes that take place as algorithms get adjusted. This lack of knowledge will leave them shocked when they suddenly fall from page 1 into oblivion.

The adjustment will be viewed as a slap. They will either have to learn the basics of search engine marketing
and put them into practice or they’ll latch onto the next traffic generation fad.

Let’s examine each of the three vital components that will help you avoid big surprises when the search engines adjust their algorithms.
