There are a number of back link building services that are advertising online. I’ve seen a number of these recently that look good on the surface.
IF you don’t know what to look for, however, many of these services will be giving you very little value for the money you are spending.
For example: 1,000 social bookmark profiles with back links to your website for $9.99 sounds pretty good doesn’t it?
How much weight do you think Google will give the back links when they see no activity on any of those 1,000 social bookmark accounts? If you answered very little weight, you were correct.
Another service is offering to submit the 500 word article on the keyword of your choice to multiple article directories that have a page rank between three and six. What many people don’t know is the search engines will give the back links the most weight only on the article in a directory that has the most authority and the rest of the articles are good mostly for traffic generation.
I’ve also seen back link services offered to place your forum signature in a predetermined number of places for a set price. Every time I see an offer like this, I always wonder who is going to maintain the profile after the initial posts are made in the forum or whether it will be left dormant. If the account becomes dormant, the value of the back links will diminish or vanish completely. Forum back links are great for traffic and a help in the search engines.
Forums are awesome places too share your expertise and brand yourself as an expert in your field. If you look at a forum as just a place to put it back link, you are missing a major part of the value that your business can gain from a forum.
Blog comment back links are also being sold. If the blog owner allows comments with a keyword phrase as anchor text instead of the commenter’s name, the quality of the blog has to be questioned. The quality blogs that I have encountered in every niche I am in moderate every comment and keyword anchor phrases are NOT allowed.
You need a closely examine every back link service that you are looking at and use common sense coupled with a basic understanding of search engine optimization before you part with your hard earned money.
In most niches, you only need to add 5 or 10 quality back links a day to be well ahead of your competitors. If you do this consistently with quality back links, you will consistently move up in almost any niche.
