Survey Says – 72% of Consumers Want Mobile-Friendly Sites: Google Research
Are you mobile friendly? Google surveyed 1,088 smartphone users in July of 2012 and the results showed nearly three quarters of the respondents wanted mobile friendly sites for their phones.
If you’ve visited a non-mobile friendly site using a smartphone, you know how frustrating it is to pinch, zoom and move around. Add to that the fact that your site takes FOREVER to load and it may not play Flash or show your pretty graphics.
Users want to see the information they want on a page in 5 seconds or less and they do NOT want to scroll horizontally or tap more than once to get directions, to call you, to see your store hours or to verify the services you offer meet their needs.
The July 2012 survey revealed that 96% of the respondents said the sites they visited from their phone didn’t look good on that device and 72% of them stated the looks were important to them.
You are losing money if your website doesn’t look good on phones, tablets and netbooks in addition to desktop computers.
When 61 percent of over a thousand people state they’ll quickly leave an unfriendly site if they can’t find what they want fast and 67% of that same 1,000+ people state they are more likely to spend money with you if your site is friendly, you’d better pay attention.

A site that’s unfriendly to your customers on their mobile device can actually hurt your brand.
