Referral Marketing Is The Best Way To Get New Customers
Old-fashioned word-of-mouth advertising is the absolute best type of referral marketing that you can get. A study done by the Nielsen group in the third quarter of 2011 revealed that 78% of the 1000 people that responded to the survey trust the referrals they got from friends, family and coworkers.
Online referral marketing is the second best way that you can get new customers.
With online referral marketing, your customer can find you in many different ways. Some of these are:
- social media sites
- search engines
- local business directories
- your company website
- blogs that contain reviews about your business
- promotional videos
- paid ads
- and many, many more
Even though these two methods have different starting points, they usually have one thing in common. The one common element is that the prospective customer will almost always use a search engine to see what kind of a reputation you have.
If you have a bad reputation or no reputation and one of your competitors’ shows up right next your listing with a good reputation, your competitor will usually get the business instead of you.
The same Nielsen study that showed that 78% of the 1000 people that responded to the 2011 survey trusted personal referrals also showed that 70% of those 1000 people trusted third-party reviews that they read online.

Unfortunately, the world of marketing is rapidly changing from being mostly off-line marketing to being mainly online marketing.
With online marketing, you need a team with a special set of skills because you will not have enough time to run your business, spend time with your family, spend time networking within your community and to effectively market your business online.
