Why Local Business Owners Should Not Focus On Marketing
Marketing is usually not the expertise of a local business owner so they should concentrate on selling to their customers & hire someone to market for them.
If you’re not making six figures a year with your business, you should be concentrating all of your efforts on selling.
Your expertise is the products and services that you offer so you are usually the person that’s most qualified to sell which will help you expand the vision you have for your business.
A good marketing consultant will help you build your online reputation, monitor that reputation and market that reputation so that they or someone else can drive traffic to you that will convert at a higher rate than it did before you were to develop a five-star online reputation.
if you choose the DIY approach to marketing because you don’t have the money to hire a consultant, you need to understand that you need to double the amount of money that you put into your marketing efforts every month until you have a good marketing budget and can hire someone to do the marketing for you.
Additionally, the world of marketing is changing so rapidly that you need someone that specializes in online marketing to market online for you which will in turn help your off-line marketing efforts because off-line marketing alone will not grow your business last enough for you to survive and thrive.
A Sales Funnel And A List
Most local business owners that I know do not have a sales funnel in place that helps them build a list of prospects they can market to and they have no idea what the numbers are.
To consistently grow your business, you need to know that if you put X number of prospects into your sales funnel that you get X number of leads and X Number of sales.
Once you know those numbers, you’ll know what your cost per lead is and the cost per conversion.
This knowledge gives you the information that you need to know exactly how much money you need to spend on advertising to get X number of new customers.
These numbers also give you the knowledge you need to be able to test different aspects of your sales funnel to see what you can do to improve conversions which will lower the cost of customer acquisition.
A good marketing consultant can help you create a good sales funnel which will help you build your lists while you build your business.
In the end you will have a prospect list and a buyers list.
You had the vision of where you want your business to go and why you wanted to get there so why aren’t you concentrating on that vision and selling instead of doing tasks that you don’t want to do, that you may not like to do and that you don’t really know how to do?
